In this first of three weeks of herb camp the theme is “In the Margins”. In the next 7 days, your challenge is to spend 15 minutes a day touching, tasting, smelling, and learning about the herbs in your own environment.
Today’s challenge assignment: Blend an herbal tea
Make a tea for relaxation and digestion
This herbal blend contains relaxing, digestive, and analgesic herbs like peppermint, chamomile, and lemon balm to help you relax, and let go of the cares and anxiety of life. Did you notice the one of the ingredients in this tea blend is an asteraceae family plant?
- 1 part lemon balm leaves
- 1 part chamomile flowers
- 1 part spearmint or peppermint leaves
Mix the herbs together in a bowl. Transfer to a jar.
To use:
Add 1 heaping teaspoon of herbs to a tea pot. Fill with boiled water. Steep covered for 15 minutes. Drink freely.
Beneficial to use before bed or before meals.

I like hops, but I use it as a tincture because it does not last long as a dried herb.

Made a blend of Lemon Balm, Chamomile Flowers and Spearmint.
Mixed together, put in a quart jar, store in cabinet with the tea and
Labeled.

I love using my homegrown lemon balm and chamomile in tea. I like your idea of adding peppermint or spearmint. I’m going to try both mints and see which I like better. This sounds like a lovely gift tea to make, also!

My daughter and daughter-in-law both experience anxiety. I made a tincture of yarrow that helps both and for my DIL just the smell is enough to help her anxiety. I’m sure a tea would be of great benefit.
